John Davis

John was born in 1878 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹   John's father was Thomas Davis and his mother was Sarah L. Rose.  His paternal grandparents were William Davis and Mary Larkin; his maternal grandparents were Solomon T. Rose and Martha Smith. He had four brothers and four sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Robert, James M., Edgar, Frank, Martha, Carrie, Elizabeth, Ida Josephine and Genian.  He was the oldest of the ten children. He had a half-brother and six half-sisters, named William Mack, Ellen, Margaret H., Nancy C., Fannie, Mary and Margaret Lou.  He died at the age of 87 in 1965.¹
