William John Davenport 
William John was born on November 18th, 1866 in Casey County, Kentucky.1 William John's father was Newton J. Davenport and his mother was Matilda Riggins. His paternal grandparents were Henry Davenport and Elizabeth Spears; his maternal grandparents were George Washington Riggins and Eleanor Pigg. He had a brother and three sisters, named Miral, Martha Hogan, Elizabeth and Electa. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 28 on January 8th, 1895 in Valdasta, Texas.1 General Notes

The young couple moved to Texas with the John Wiley Combest family in
1887, arriving on 7 May. Their first child was born in November of the
same year.
