Elizabeth was born in 1510 in Of Cranbrook, Kent, England.1 Elizabeth's father was Alexander Courthoppe and her mother was Katherine Foster. Her paternal grandfather was Peter Courthope; her maternal grandfather was Robert Foster. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Peter, William, Richard, John, Catherine, Agnes, Eleanor and Courthope.
