Almond Nicholas Combest 
Almond Nicholas was born on December 24th, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky.1 Almond Nicholas' father was Dewey Almond Combest and his mother was Ethel Willis Powell. His paternal grandparents were Andrew James Combest and Mariah Ellen Conover. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Reed Moss, James Theodore, Ethel LaVerne, Living and Living. He died at the age of 53 on February 18th, 1977 in Long Island, New York.1 General Notes

"Nick" was a jockey. He started his racing career in the early 1940's and continued with much success for ten years. Following a spill in Canada, which left him with a permanent knee injury, he became a successful trainer in 1954.
Nick Combest died in an automobile accident in Long Island, New York and is buried there in Holy Rood Cemetery.
