Nancy was born on May 15th, 1814 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Nancy's father was John Christian and her mother was Nancy Skelton. Her paternal grandparents were Lewis Christian and Margaret Felkner; her maternal grandfather was William Skelton. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named William Lewis, Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, John, Seth, Allen D., James, George, Margaret and Ruth. She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.-
