Eleanor was born in 1889 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.1 Eleanor's father was Benjamin D. Briscoe and her mother was Virginia E. Boy. Her maternal grandparents were Andrew Boy and Eleanor Hall. She had a brother and three sisters, named Benjamin, Ruth, Hannah and Emma. She was the oldest of the five children.-
