His paternal grandparents were Samuel Alsobrook and Joan Howell; his maternal grandparents were William Crocker and Katherine. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Amos, David, James, John, William, Celia Or Selah, Lucy, Mabel, Martha and Mary Or Molly. He died about 1795 in ,Halifax, North Carolina.
