Her maternal grandparents were John, Jr. Slaymaker and Jeannett McIlvaine. She had five brothers and three sisters, named George H., Howard, Nathaniel, Albert, Charles Whitfield, Mary Jane, Lavinia and Elizabeth. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.General Notes
