James Hardin Winfrey

James Hardin was born in October 1841 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.  James Hardin's father was Holmes Warren Winfrey and his mother was Lucinda Elkins.  His maternal grandfather was Shaner Elkins. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John Johnson, William L., Hal Gillespie, Henry, Beersheba, Sarah Kate and Sidney.  He was the oldest of the eight children.
