John Thorp 
John was born in 1842 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. John's father was William Thorp and his mother was Elizabeth Cocheran. His maternal grandparents were John Cocheran and Sarah Or Sally. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Sarah and Emily. He was the second oldest of the four children.
