John Spears 
John was born about 1747 in North Carolina. John's father was John Spears and his mother was Christian Benton. His paternal grandparents were James Spears and Elizabeth Coker; his maternal grandfather was John Benton. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Moses, Harris, Philip, Benton, Rosannah and Abselah. He was the oldest of the seven children.-
