Louisiana was born in 1810 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.  Louisiana's father was Elias Gotlieb Schonecker and her mother was Katherine Susong.  Her maternal grandparents were Andrew Susong and Barbara. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, John, William, Elijah, James King, Jacob Susong, Barbara, Sophia, Elizabeth and Sarah.  She was the third youngest of the eleven children.
