James Pruitt 
James was born in 1745 in , Campbell, Virginia. James' father was Michael Pruitt and his mother was Elizabeth Simkins. His maternal grandparents were John Simkins and Elizabeth French. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Elisha, Michael, Byrd, Joseph, Robert, Joshua, Rachel, Judith and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the ten children.-
