James Long

James was born in 1810 in Hawkins County, Tennessee.  James' father was John Long and his mother was Tabitha Woods.  His maternal grandfather was Joseph Woods. He had three brothers and a sister, named Joseph Kennedy, Isaac David, William and Ann.  He was the second youngest of the five children. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas Alexander, George Maxwell, Moses, Spencer Ball, Wesley Burton, Andrew Jackson and Rebecca Jane.
