Ambrose's father was William John Kyle and his mother was Rebecca Young. His paternal grandparents were Robert Kyle and Leah Brooks; his maternal grandfather was Robert Young. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Willie Blount, Claiborne, Robert Guston, Absalom, William, Mary and Rebecca.-
