Mary Or Polly was born in 1808 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Mary Or Polly's father was John Kite and her mother was July Elizabeth Louderback. Her paternal grandparents were George Kite and Susan Barret; her maternal grandparents were David Louderback and Keziah Ward. She had four brothers and a sister, named Martin, Henry, James, George and Elizabeth. She was the third oldest of the six children.-
