Martha Or Patsy was born in 1830 in , Bourbon, Kentucky. Martha Or Patsy's father was Washington Kennedy and her mother was Elizabeth Bedford. Her paternal grandfather was John Kennedy; her maternal grandparents were Littleberry Bedford and Mattie Clay. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Littleberry, John B., William, John, Julia, Mattie B., Mary and Melissa. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 39 in 1869.-
