Joseph B. was born on November 15th, 1814 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Joseph B.'s father was Jacob Isenberg and his mother was Elizabeth Simmons. His paternal grandparents were Nicholas Isenberg and Fae Elizabeth Fox; his maternal grandparents were Christian Simon Or Simmons and Catherine Amend Or Ammons. He had six brothers and four sisters, named John, Simeon, Isenberg, Benjamin J., Jacob K., George A., Katherine, Elizabeth, Matilda and Martha. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 36 in 1850.-
