Nancy's father was Isaac Hilliard and her mother was Leah Crafford. Her paternal grandparents were William Hilliard and Ann Newsum; her maternal grandparents were Carter Jr. Crafford and Elizabeth Kearney. She had three brothers and a sister, named Isaac, James, William Crawford and Elizabeth.-
