Leah was born on July 27th, 1749 in , Surry, VA. Leah's father was Carter Jr. Crafford and her mother was Elizabeth Kearney. Her paternal grandparents were Carter Crafford and Sarah Swann; her maternal grandparents were Barnaby Kearney and Elizabeth Godwin. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Henry, Leah, Elizabeth, Lucy and Martha. She died at the age of 74 on October 20th, 1823 in , Nash, NC.-
