Jane was born in 1753 in , Prince George, Virginia. Jane's father was Anthony Haynes and her mother was Jane Eaton. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Haynes and Elizabeth Martha Jones; her maternal grandparents were William Eaton and Mary Rives. She had five brothers named Herbert, Eaton, Anthony, Andrew and Thomas. She had three half-brothers named Benjamin, Isaac and William.-
