John Grandstaff 
John was born about 1790 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. John's father was Philip Grandstaff and his mother was Elizabeth Hass. His paternal grandparents were George Grandstaff Bishoff and Hass. He had five brothers and five sisters, named George, Benjamin, Philip, Jonathan E., Samuel, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Mary E., Katherine and Grandstaff.
