Her paternal grandfather was John Gordon; her maternal grandparents were Francis Bythell Haynes and Anne Bell. She had six brothers and five sisters, named John, James, Thomas, William, Joseph, George Haynes, Nancy Ann, Elizabeth, Lucy, Elizabeth and Sarah. She was the third oldest of the twelve children. She died in , Smith, Tennessee.-
