Patience was born about 1702 in Of, Bertie, NC. Patience's father was John Bertie Cotton and her mother was Martha Godwin. Her paternal grandparents were John Cotton and Anne Hutcheson; her maternal grandparents were William Godwin and Elizabeth Wright. She had three brothers and a sister, named Arthur, James, Thomas and Priscilla. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Alexander Spotswood, John, Joseph, Samuel, William, Martha, Susannah and Cotton. She died on November 12th, 1725 in Of, Bertie, NC.-
