Hurd Cope 
Hurd was born in 1839 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Hurd's father was Wiley Cope and his mother was Nancy Brewer. His paternal grandparents were William Cope and Nancy. He had a brother and three sisters, named James, Manila, Amanda and Mahulda. He was the second oldest of the five children.
