Rosanna C. was born in May 1860 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Rosanna C.'s father was Henry Cooper and her mother was Mary Jane. Her paternal grandparents were John Cooper and Mary Young. She had three sisters named Margaret A., Mary and Sarah Jane. She was the youngest of the four children.
