William Clay 
William's father was Mitchell Clay and his mother was Phoebe Belcher. His paternal grandparents were William Mitchell Clay and Tabitha Pierce; his maternal grandparents were Richard Belcher and Phoebe Obed Clay. He had six brothers and eight sisters, named David, Ezekiel, Henry J., Mitchell, Bartley, Charles, Patience, Mary, Nannie, Obedience, Polly, Rebecca, Sarah and Tabitha.-
