Mitchell was born about 1735 in Henrico Co., VA. Mitchell's father was William Mitchell Clay and his mother was Tabitha Pierce. His paternal grandparents were Henry Clay and Mary Mitchell. He was an only child. He died on March 20th, 1811 in Giles Co., VA.-
