Tennessee was born in 1847 in Tennessee. Tennessee's father was John Cato and his mother was Parthenia Jane. His paternal grandparents were Roland Cato and Nancy Vincent. He had two brothers and six sisters, named John J., William, Amanda Jane, Martha, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Nancy and Pessa. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.-
