Alice E. C. was born on September 5th, 1859 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Alice E. C.'s father was Columbus C. Brice and her mother was Virginia Jane Looney. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Brice and Katherine Carmack; her maternal grandparents were John Looney and Elizabeth Johnson. She had a brother and two sisters, named Orville Christopher, Mary C. and Laura J. C.. She was the oldest of the four children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Willie D., Hoffman and Louisa. She died at the age of 75 on March 29th, 1935 in , Marion, Indiana.-
