Mary Cassandra was born in 1892 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Mary Cassandra's father was Rufus William Breeding and her mother was Cora May Salts. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Jackson Breeding and Cassandra Matilda Hurst; her maternal grandparents were James Madison Salts and Susan Elizabeth Kerin. She had a brother and two sisters, named James Jackson, Ruby May and Emily Hurst. She was the oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ezra Sidney and Elizabeth Caroline. She died at the age of 90 in 1982.-
