Moses was born about 1768 in Virginia. Moses' father was George Ball and his mother was Elizabeth Tunnell. His paternal grandparents were Moses Ball and Nancy Ann Brashears; his maternal grandparents were William Tunnell and Ann Howard. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named John, Wesley, William, George, James, Jesse, Robert, Sarah, Ann, Elizabeth and Hester.-
