John was born in 1646 in England. John 's father was Edmund . NICHOLSON and his mother was Elizabeth SIMPSON . His paternal grandparents were Thomas NICHOLSON and Alice KENYON ; his maternal grandfather was William SIMPSON . He had four brothers and a sister, named Christopher, Joseph , Samuel, Thomas and Elizabeth . He was the third youngest of the six children.
