(From Now and Long Ago) JOhn came to America with his parents when seven years old. After marriage he settled in Rockingham Co, VA, where his sons Martin, Lewis Jacob, George, and John were born. In 1769 the family settled on Wheeling Creek about 13 miles from the Ohio River. During the Logan uprising of 1774, Captain John removed his family to Prickett's Fort for about a year, then returned to Wheeling Creek. John was killed by an Indian on Captive Creek.
