Adam was born on June 19th, 1822 in Luzerne Co, PA. Adam's father was William Stocker and his mother was Catherine Miller. His paternal grandparents were John Thomas Stocker and Catherine Deily; his maternal grandparents were George Miller and Elizabeth Shiffer. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Conrad, Benjamin, William, Eliza , Ellen, Emily, Sarah and Catherine. He was the second oldest of the nine children.-
