Peter was born in 1556 in Tyld Hall, Essex, England (Chicksands Priory, Shefford Beds Baronet). Peter's father was Sir Peter Osborn and his mother was Anne Blyth. His paternal grandparents were Richard Osborn and Elizabeth Coke; his maternal grandparents were Dr. John Blyth and Alice Cheke. He had eight brothers and nine sisters, named Sir John , Josiah, Christopher, NIcholas, Henry, Richard, Roger, Thomas, Jane, Ann, Elizabeth, Mabel, Maudin, Jane, Susan, Catherine and Dorothy. He was the fourth oldest of the eighteen children.-
