Peter was born about 1791.  Peter's father was John E. Haught and his mother was Catherine Croushour.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Sr. Haught and Anna Barbara Heil; his maternal grandparents were Nicholas Croushour and Elisabeth Crislip. He had four brothers and a sister, named Jacob Henry, John E., Nicholas, Tobias and Ann Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
