Her paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Everson and Elizabeth Nash; her maternal grandparents were Abraham Bugher and Margaret Bergan (?). She had seven brothers and two sisters, named George Washington, Jackson, Richard, Dial (Doyle), Lewis Cass, William , Nathaniel, Sarah and Margaret Elizabeth.-
