Mary's father was Dr. John Blyth and her mother was Alice Cheke. Her paternal grandfather was Robert Blyth; her maternal grandparents were Peter Cheke and Agnes Duffield (or Dufford). She had six brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin, Nathaniel, Samuel, William, John, Robert, Anne and Elizabeth.-
