John Martin was born on September 3rd, 1869.1   John Martin's father was Richard Septimus Young and his mother was Orlena Edwards.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Young and Dorcas Burnett. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Edward Lafayette, James Titus, Ernest Dee, Robert Claude, Hettie Ann, Mary Jane, Ellie Mattie and Maude Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 73 on November 28th, 1942.1
