Renaud I was born in 0990 in Bourgogne, France.1 Renaud I's father was Othon-Guillaume de Macon Ct de Macon & Nevers and his mother was Ermentrude de Roucy. His paternal grandmother was Gerberga de Macon Cts de Burgundy; his maternal grandparents were Renaud de Roucy Ct de Roucy and Alberade de Lorraine. He had two sisters named Gerberga de Burgundy and Agnes de Burgandy. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Beatrice.
