August Keng 
August was born in 1837 in Germany.1 August's father was Friedrich Wilhelm Keng and his mother was Florentine Wilhemine Amalie Erfling. His paternal grandparents were Friedrich Wilhelm Keng and Maria Sophie Prante. He had three brothers and a sister, named Friedrich Wilhelm, Wilhelm, Herman Adolf and Pauline. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 82 on August 26th, 1919 in Latium, TX.1 General Notes

August served in the Civil War in Captain Sterling' s Company of Waul's
Texas Legion. He was captured at Vicksburg on June 4, 18 63 and held
prisoner at Fort Delaware until June 3, 1865.
