1974 - On April 16, 1974, Oleta (Mrs. B. Neil Dickinson) wrote Hugh B.
Johnston, Jr. of Wilson, N.C. in part:
"In researching the history of the Dic kinson family, I have
consulted Bible Records of Early Edgecombe County by Rut h Smith
Williams in which she refers frequently to the files of Hugh
B. Johnston, Jr.
"I have the will of a Joel Dickinson who died in Wayne Co., N C in
1792 and deeds showing that the Dickinsons were located on
Contentnea Cr eek, but I need help in locating Joel's father. I
believe that my husband is descended from Joel Dickinson through
his son, Isaac, who died in Montgomery, Alabama in 1819."
