Young was born on June 27th, 1827 in Tennessee.1   Young's father was Thomas Burkett and his mother was Sarah Young. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named James, David M, William, Isaac, Ephraim, Levi, Augustus Marshall, Anna, Margaret, Mary Polly and Sarah.  He died at the age of 56 on April 7th, 1884 in Tennessee.  He was buried in Grissom Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee.1 1
