Nathan Phillips was born March 20, 1773, in Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania, died in or about 1840 and is buried at Rocky River
Presbyterian Church Graveyard, Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Hannah
Rounciville, his wife, was born March 17, 1774. Nathan Phillips is
supposed to be of Scotch descent, his wife of Welch descent, and to have
belonged to a Salisbury, North Carolina, family.
Nathan Phillips acquired a farm consisting of about 260 acres of land,
three miles from Rocky River Church, and five miles from Concord, in or
about the year 1800, and lived there continuously until the time of his
death. He and his wife and their children were members of Rocky River
Church.

The foregoing data was secured chiefly from my father's first cousin,
Nathan Marcus Phillips, with whom I visited in Concord, on the nineth and
tenth instants. There I also met Newton Harris, also first cousin of my
father, and a number of the sons and daughters of both of these.
