Narrative
REFERENCE: 255 Va Cous
Dr. Thomas Goode, of Hot Springs, Bath Co., Va., son of Col. Samuel
Goode, No. 96, removed, about 1825, to Botetourt Co., (the portion now
known as Roanoke Co.), near the Big Lick, and in 1833, to Bath Co., when
he bought the Hot Springs, and by his wisdom and energy built up the
famous sanitarium at that place, of which he was proprietor at the time
of his death. He published "The Invalid's Guide to the Virginia Springs,"
of which editions were printed at Richmond 1831, 1846, 1857. He was a
very enthusiastic politician, and the memory of the discussions which
took place at his Hot Springs sanitarium, in which he was the most
prominent participant, are still traditionary in Virginia.
The writer has visited his grave, which is in the little burying-ground
near the Hot Springs Hotel. p. 122 Va Cousins
