# 56 in Virginia Cousins. Robert Goode received a grant of 480 acres in
Goochland County, (VA) July 30, 1742. Virginia Land Register, Book XX, p.
400.
He was a man of ample means, a planter of the old school, and his sons
were family educated, married into the best of the neighboring families,
and occupied positions of prominence.
Mary Turpin, his wife was daughter of Thomas and Obedience Turpin, of
Powhatan Co., (VA). Thomas Turpin, his uncle, married Mary Jefferson,
aunt of Thomas Jefferson, and sister-in-law of Bennet Goode, no. 58. (sic
Bennet Goode's VA Cousin # is 59).
