Dr. Charles was born in 1755 in Orange Co., Va. Dr. Charles' father was George Taylor and his mother was Rachel Gibson. His paternal grandparents were Colonel James II Taylor and Martha Thompson; his maternal grandparents were Jonathan Gibson and Elizabeth Thornton. He had nine brothers named Major James, Lieutenant Jonathan, Captain Edmond, Major William, Captain Reuben, Benjamin, Major Francis, Lieutenant John and Richard, Commodore.-
