Elizabeth Nash's father was Samuel Roberson Read and her mother was Lizzie Hamilton. Her paternal grandparents were Dr. John Thomas Read and Laurena Caroline Rankin; her maternal grandfather was Dr. P. D. Sims Hamilton. She had a brother and two sisters, named Martin Sims, Mary Hill and Margaret.-
