Joseph Scudday Goode 
Joseph Scudday was born on September 2nd, 1837 in Kemper Co., Mississippi. Joseph Scudday's father was Sidney Moore Goode and his mother was Louisiana Scudday. His paternal grandparents were William Goode and Sarah James; his maternal grandparents were John Scudday and Elizabeth Overton Bickley. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Hon. Flavillus Sidney, Esq., John William, Dr. James Jefferson, Martha Ann, Louisa Caroline and Rebecca Overton. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 46 on October 20th, 1883 in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.General Notes

Joseph Scudday Goode was graduated at Oakland College, Mississippi, 1851,
and served through the late war 1861 - 1863, in virginia, as a soldier in
the confederate army. He was a successful lawyer, 1870 - 1883, in
Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, and a very bright, enterprising man. He
aided materially in the preparation of this genealogy. p. 253, Va Cousins
